Paul D’Agostino, M.M., M.F.A., Designated Linklater Voice Teacher, Certified Teacher of The Alexander Technique, Licensed Massage Therapist

Boston Conservatory at Berklee Student Government Association Teacher of the Year Award, 2020 recipient

Paul D’Agostino is one of only a handful of teachers in the world certified in The Alexander Technique and Linklater Voice Method. He  joined the faculty of Boston Conservatory at Berklee in 2014, and served as Assistant Professor of Theater, specializing in voice & speech and The Alexander Technique until September 2021, when he left to bring the work to a wider population of students, lay people, and corporate leaders alike.

Trained by and designated to teach The Linklater Method (also known as “Freeing the Natural Voice”) by world-renowned voice pedagogue and theater artist Kristin Linklater, Paul has served on the faculties of Emerson College, Gordon College, Shakespeare & Company, and Boston University, where he taught for the Boston University Summer Theatre Institute for seven years. For over a decade, he was the resident voice instructor for Commonwealth Shakespeare Company, which afforded him the opportunity to teach in the Summer Apprentice Program, coach main stage actors, and lead workshops on the intersection of actor training and public speaking for M.B.A. candidates at Babson College. A longtime member of Shakespeare & Company in Lenox, Massachusetts, he ran the youth training program, Riotous Youth, taught voice in the Month-long Intensive, and acted in numerous productions on the main stage and on tour. He’s also facilitated workshops at Tufts University, Brandeis University, Boston Arts Academy, Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Extension School, Wheelock Family Theatre, the Tom Todoroff Acting Studio, and the ReachArts Center in Swampscott, Massachusetts, and Needham High School.

His acting credits include work with acclaimed director Irina Brook, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Shakespeare & Company, The Hanover Theatre, North Shore Music Theatre, SpeakEasy Stage Company, Gloucester Stage Company, and Boston Playwrights’ Theatre.

D'Agostino holds a Master of Fine Arts in Theater Education (with a concentration in voice and speech) from Boston University, a Master of Music in Musical Theater from The Boston Conservatory at Berklee, and a Bachelor of Arts in Theater Arts from Gordon College. Additional training includes seminars on vocal health and rehabilitation at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary; extensive study at Shakespeare & Company with Kevin Coleman, Tina Packer, and Dennis Krausnick; Alexander Technique with Debra Adams, Jamee Culbertson, Tommy Thompson, Bob Lada, and Betsy Polatin; and Linklater apprenticeship under master teacher Paula Langton at Boston University. In 2019, he graduated from The Boston Conservatory Alexander Technique Teacher Training Course — a three-year, 1600-hour teacher training program. A lifelong learner and lover of bodywork and hands-on healing modalities, he graduated from the Spirit-Wellness Institute 650-hour massage therapy program, and now practices a hybrid of massage therapy at Alexander Technique at Down Under School of Yoga in Brookline, MA and B in Touch Massage Therapy in Wellesley, MA..

Paul currently lives in Framingham, Massachusetts, where he maintains a private studio for voice & acting coaching, The Alexander Technique, singing, corporate public speaking coaching, and massage therapy.

In May 2020, Paul received The Boston Conservatory Student Government Association Teacher of the Year award, and he’s most recently started teaching and directing at Walnut Hill School for the Performing Arts in Natick, MA.
